Claimed by Zoe Winters

Claimed, a very apt title for a book that certainly claimed my attention from start to finish and after. As an avid reader of everything paranormal espically in the romance genre I almost devoured it the minute I read the synopsis.

The story follows two unforgettable main characters. Antony burgess and Charlotte devlin. The book starts with Antony a vampire, strong and dare I say it a little less evil then some vampires, due to his aversion to killing his prey, having the greatest luck of his undead life. Gretna from zoes previous book is ill her blood drenched in drugs potent enough to kill her and what better way to save her then to suck the drug right out of her in true vampire fashion? Her blood has been calling to Antony and given the chance he leaps on it! He saves her and runs off on a blood and drug induced high leading him to Charlotte an ordinary witty human whom he has spent countless hours flirting with at the local bookshop where both she and gretna work. But he attacks her and almost drinks too much the expierience so painful and terrifying for her that he is forced to erase her memory. But it goes wrong and instead of simply erasing himself he takes each and every single memory leaving her like a baby newly born to the world. The book centres on her journey to regain her memories whilst living with the powerful vampire and feelings blosom to the surface. But Antony also has a contest to become clan leader looming over his shoulders. Can love prevail?

Zoes witty style coupled with wonderful words bringing way to imagry in the readers mind makes this book a winner on my list. I laughed, I gasped and I dare I say it had a tear in my eye on several occasions. The vunerability of Charlotte as she copes with her lost memory made me love her character and zoes ability to make this shine through marks her as a fantastic storyteller.

The strength and moodyness of our hero makes him a man or vampire that all woman will love as he struggles with allowing a female human into his territory.

The evil villans of the story were easily believable which is a challange I believe any writer faces when creating such a character. It is quite easy I believe to create your leading lady or man but that little bit tougher to make someone terrifyingly evil. Zoe does this well and I know I certainly wouldn't like to meet Linus and Callie on a dark night in a laneway!

One of my favorite characters in this book was Paul. Antonys minion. His wit and sauve presence called to me the moment he was introduced and I for one would love to see more of him in the future!

All in all this book was certainly a success for Zoe and I would recommend this and any other books by her to anyone who loves a little bit of romance and the paranormal in their lives.
